South Carolina State University is located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The university was established before 1964 and is historically referred as the ?black university.? The university is also known as SCSU or simply the state among the old alumni. It is the only state-funded, land-grant institution in South Carolina and is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund. The university was founded in 1896 and has currently there are 4,525 students enrolled in the university with 550 faculty members. Its nickname is the Bulldogs with the school colors being garnet and blue. The campus of the South Carolina State University covers an area of about 160 acres with an additional 286 acres at Camp Harry Daniels in Elloree, South Carolina.
