Spread over four campuses, the University of Brighton comprises about 19,000 students and 2100 staff. Of the students, more than 7000 are enrolled in part-time studies, 2000 students are from outside UK and many are based in partner colleges. The University of Brighton is based in three sites in Brighton, namely, at Grand Parade, Moulsecoomb, and Falmer and some in Eastbourne. Besides the wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered in the University of Brighton, there are also many professional courses offered to working individuals who feel the need of enhancing their skills. The latter may either be workshop events, lectures, short courses and evening classes. Often these are tailor made to suit the needs of the individual and the organization.

The professional courses may fall under subject titles of Art and Design, Business and Management, Computer, Information and Digital Interactive Media, Education, Health and Social Care, Languages, Science and Engineering and Collaborative Training Center. More than ninety percent of the students' population have the option of work-based and related learning, thus having a hands-on professional experience.

Research is one other area in University of Brighton which is given prime importance, with research projects on art and design, linguistics and biomedical sciences being internationally renowned. The University is backed by the Virtual Research Unit which takes care of all queries relating to funding opportunities, application process, and researcher development workshops. Besides there are five Faculties within the University, namely the Faculty of Arts and Architecture, Faculty of Education and Sport, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Management and Information Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

There is a good proportion of students from outside UK, amounting to some 22% of the total strength. While the International Information Office, which has recently moved to the main campus, takes care of all queries related to travel, accommodation, funding and coursework, among others, there are pre-session programs for students in English language in the summers. International students can also visit the University under the International Visiting Students Program, English plus Peace Studies Programs and many European Exchange Programs.

University of Bradford has an extensive e-learning facilities, as a support to postgraduate and research students, known as the MetaLib. Students can download a wide range of electronic journals and papers from the Internet, do a cross-search across chosen subject areas and provides access to other web resources.
